The truth about burnout...

The truth about burnout is that it’s like a line in the sand that you don’t see until after you’ve crossed it. The other truth is that it can take a REALLY long time to bounce back from.

I know this, because I experienced extreme burnout a few years ago. It’s one of the reasons why I moved across the country to San Diego. It’s why I completely changed my career. And it’s one of the reasons why I’m so passionate about the work that I do - because I know what burning out can do to a person.

Most of the women who find me are right on the edge of burnout. They’re so stressed and stretched so thin that they don’t have the energy to navigate a career change, even though they know that they can’t stay where they are.

They’re caring women who try to hold on because they don’t want to abandon their team, while their personal lives and relationships suffer.

They’re ambitious women who love the satisfaction that doing important work at a company that aligns with their values can bring.

So when things start to change at their workplace, they stay on, hoping that things will magically shift on their own. Even after something happens that makes it clear that they need to leave.

I continued on in my last role for 10 months after my breaking point, every day, searching for the light at the end of the tunnel. But I’m here to tell you, that the change you’re waiting for needs to come from you.

Are you on the verge of burnout? Or have you already crossed into it? What do you need to do to take care of yourself, your health and your life as a whole?

Just let yourself see what this is…for now. This is the first step.

Here for you,
Denise
