What’s your one thing?

We did it! We made through another holiday season. Hello 2019!

New Year’s is always a time of reflection for me. I read through my journal entries from the past year and notice where I’ve been, where I am now and just how much has changed along the way.

While a year seems to fly by so quickly, it's incredible how much can happen over the course of 365 days!

Since I have a tendency to blow right through any milestones without appreciating them, I decided to make a list of my top ten celebratory moments of 2018. It includes things like:

  • Traveling to Japan—something that I’ve dreamt about doing for years!

  • Becoming even more clear on my life’s purpose and serving my clients more deeply

  • Refreshing my website so that it’s more aligned with who I am and what I do

  • Moving to a new home that's SO much more peaceful than my last one (this one was really significant for me)

After completing and reading through my list, something became really clear.

All of the biggest things I accomplished in 2018 were a result of living and working in a more serene environment.

In fact, even though I went to Japan before I moved, part of the reason I took that trip was to get a break from my tense living situation.

Hmmm...

With this new information in mind, I decided to create this year's resolution a bit differently.

Instead of making a list of goals I wanted to reach, I set an intention for myself.

In 2019, my focus will be on prioritizing self-care.

I already know what my goals are—there’s no problem with that!

But the first step in bringing my goals to life involves getting better at doing regular self-care, instead of only filling myself up once I’m already depleted.

For me, having this piece in place will set the stage for everything else I want to do this year. I can just feel that this is true.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

What's the one thing you'd need to have an amazing breakthrough this year? The one thing that will create a foundation for your other goals?

This could look like anything from finally having a conversation with your boss about getting a promotion. Going to that book club meeting to meet some new people. Taking that class so that you can begin your side-hustle.

What can you do to solidify your vision of this one thing and commit to it?

And when will you do that?

I'd love to hear about it, if you'd like to share it.

Happy New Year, friend. Here's to finally getting your breakthrough!
