Take your own advice

Imagine that you're talking to your friend. She's telling you about a challenge she's currently facing. She's feeling stuck, confused and frustrated, and you're trying to help.

Later on, you realize that you're actually going through something very similar. (Life is funny that way.) Do you take your own advice? Why is it so much easier for us to see another person's situation more clearly than our own?

It's hard to remain objective about our own circumstances because our own feelings are involved. We color the situation with our own limiting beliefs and fears. AND we'll be the ones who'll have to deal with the consequences of our actions! (*Gulp* the right steps aren't always the easiest ones to take...)

When I catch myself in this sort of situation, whether it's with a friend or a client, it's pretty enlightening. I can more clearly see what I need to do, or how my perspective needs to change, and it feels like a weight has been lifted. And then I smile.

See if you can catch yourself in a similar situation. If you do, let me know what you've discovered!
