The secret to changing your energy and mindset

“I used to journal on-and-off, but not consistently,” she said to me.

“I had these unrealistic expectations about what journaling was. I now see that I don’t have to write pages and pages—sometimes it can just be a thought or something you’re grateful for. Or maybe it IS three pages of whatever you need to get out...but it doesn’t have to be this HUGE commitment that I thought it had to be.”

My client just turned a BIG corner.

Not only in her journaling practice, but in her overall energy and mindset.

Here’s some background info.

She'd been feeling stuck for several years in a job that she dreaded going to each morning, and wanted OUT.

But she didn’t know HOW to shift into a new role at a different company, and if it was even POSSIBLE, since she was so ingrained in her current career.

Yet by the time we found each other, she was ready to grab my hand, take a leap and trust as she moved out of her comfort zone.

And now?

  • She feels lighter. She’s able to go with the flow and feels comfort in knowing that she can handle anything that comes her way with a calm assuredness

  • The pressure, fear and anxiety she used to feel receded as she started setting healthy boundaries with work for a more balanced life

  • She’s making more empowering choices and getting first-hand proof of how much easier life is (and how much more productive you can be at work!) when you take care of yourself and do things for pleasure’s sake

  • And she’s applying for positions in a new line of work that really lights her up

Now you may be wondering, ‘hold on a second, is this all because of...JOURNALING?!’

The short answer is, no. However, here IS the reality.

Most of us are so busy with our jobs, taking care of our families, our homes, our bodies (and oh yeah, maybe trying to have a bit of a social life) that we don’t have the time to even lift our heads to see what else is available for us.

EVEN WHEN WE KNOW IN OUR BONES THAT IT’S OUT THERE.

What journaling (and meditation) does is that it creates a little bit of time for you each day, during which you can crack open the door to remembering what’s important to YOU and how to smoothly move through your challenges.

It stops the hamster wheel you’ve been running on so that you can catch your breath and look around. And I highly recommend it!

This pandemic has forced new perspectives onto us all. The door to seeing your life differently is already ajar.

Why not use this time to get curious about what’s really there inside of you? About what you’re passionately for or against. About what piques your interest and have ignored for too long. About what’s going right and what’s off-track in your life.
